from hell to heaven
today i want to share a simple technique for working through difficult moments and dissolving inner blockages. i call it the hell to heaven method.
it begins with one word.
1. stop
when you’re overwhelmed or caught in an intense situation — emotionally, mentally, or physically — stop.
literally say the word to yourself if it helps:
stop.
like pulling the emergency brake on a speeding train, it may take a moment for your whole mind-body system to slow down. but keep saying it until the momentum eases and your attention loosens its grip on the problem.
stop. slow down. let the inner noise settle.
when the brakes have done their work, move to the next step.
2. sit
if possible, sit in a comfortable meditation posture. many people find the half-lotus or full-lotus positions especially grounding, but you can sit in a chair, kneel, or lie down — whatever allows your body to be at ease without collapsing.
the important thing is to sit in a way that feels stable, open, and alert.
let your breath flow naturally. relax the muscles that want to fidget, scratch, tighten, or shift. give your body permission to become quiet enough that it fades from the center of your attention.
3. breathe
feel your breath move in and out.
some traditions visualize energy moving up and down the spine; others simply notice the physical sensations of breathing. you don’t need to believe anything in particular — just follow whatever feels natural to you.
the goal here is simple: let your breathing become the anchor. let your awareness settle.
you may listen to chanting or calming music if it helps focus your mind. hum along softly or mentally if that makes the process smoother. let anything that brings you into balance support you.
4. set
quietly ask for what you need in this moment.
it might be clarity, strength, protection, peace, or simply presence. you can imagine surrounding yourself with golden light, or ask that no harmful thoughts or influences disturb you. the exact words don’t matter — sincerity does.
let your intention create a sanctuary around your awareness.
5. let
now comes the heart of the method.
whatever emotion, image, tension, or fear originally overwhelmed you — let it come up.
feel it in your body: where is it located? what shape or texture does it have?
if you picture it as an object, what color or form would it take?
approach it with curiosity, not resistance. you are not trying to fix it, rationalize it, or push it away. you are meeting it.
eventually, you’ll notice that this “blockage” has movement. it shifts shape. it opens or contracts. it reveals deeper layers of fear, memory, or sensation. stay with it gently.
this is the crossroads — the edge where the mind’s “hell” begins to soften, and the "heaven" of non-attachment arises.
6. see
if you continue to observe the difficult sensation with patience and love, something begins to change.
the fear loses its solidity. the image dissolves or transforms. the physical tension may release or move.
you may feel yourself passing through different landscapes of emotion or thought — peaks and valleys — but stay in the center, in pure presence, in patient devotion. let the process take the shape it needs to take.
in this silent meeting, the “hell” of the moment naturally melts into something lighter, softer, and more spacious. what felt terrifying becomes transparent. what felt heavy becomes manageable. what felt like a wall becomes a doorway.
this is the movement from hell to heaven — not by force, but by awareness.
7. be
as you continue, you may feel your breath, body, and mind begin to move together as a single, unified presence.
if your body sways, let it. if your mind drifts, gently bring it back. if emotion rises and falls, allow it.
you are learning to navigate a higher level of awareness — one where your problems don’t need to be solved logically. they dissolve naturally in the wider space of consciousness.
8. again
please don’t take my word for any of this. try it yourself. practice often. notice what you discover.
and share what you learn with others, so that the freedom you find can be a gift to anyone who might need it.
with infinite love, thank you.
